Billie came to McClatchy by way of her career as a practicing labor and employment attorney providing legal counsel to multiple news organizations. Initially serving as special employment counsel offering guidance on labor and employment issues, her role has expanded tremendously. Fulfilling responsibilities as diverse as her skill set, Billie oversees all legal matters, human resources, corporate governance, and administration.

As McClatchy’s resident Chief People Officer, though she oversees all of our 1,364 employees, she’s approachable and involved. Devoted to maintaining our positive company culture, she spends a great deal of time and energy working with her team to ensure our team members feel supported, recognized, and empowered.

Billie also lends her extensive experience as a business strategist to her role leading McClatchy’s Strategic Business Operations group responsible for executing on all strategic company initiatives.

Billie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Virginia University and received her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where she graduated first in her class.
